Attiéké au poulet  – Gari

Attiéké is the main dish in Ivory cost but it is  also popular  in many other neighborhood countries such as Guinea, Mali, Senegal and many other.It is made from cassava and look more like couscous when it’s ready. you can be served  it with fish which is called Attiéké au poisson or with chicken ( Attiéké au poulet ), . Below you will find a complete recipe of Attiéké poulet  and I promise you are going to love it.

Attiéké au Poulet Recipe

Serves : 2

Ingredients:

400g  Attiéké  also called Gari in other west African countries, you can buy it Here.

1 large fresh tomato

1 small onion

1 cucumber, optional

1 lemon

salt to taste

Onion sauce, you will find the recipe on my grilled fish post

Chilies sauce, you will find the recipe on my HOT CHILI Sauce post

2 leg grilled chicken (grilled chicken recipe coming soon)

2 Tbsp oil, optional

1 cup of water

Direction:

You can get precooked Attieke in some African food stores and all you ll need to do is to microwave it.

 Precooked Attieke 

But if you are using dry gari, here the step:

Step one: Dampen the flour (gari) with water and evenly share the water on the flour.

Step two: Use a steamer to steam the dampen flour, steam each side for 10 min.

Step three: When the gari is tender and ready remove from the steamer and transfer in a bowl. Add salt to your taste and one tbsp of vegetable oil (peanut oil preferably) .

Step four:Cut the fresh onion fresh tomato and cucumber. Then salt and add few drop of lemon. Reserve.
Step five: When the grilled chicken and onion sauce is ready. Serve the Attieke with the onion sauce, grilled chicken and the tomato salad, add some chili sauce  to your taste. 

  • Note: You can substitute the grilled chicken with grilled fish or fried fish.
